MES 2010 TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION DAY: In appreciation of our MES teachers and staff, the PTO will be honoring them on May 5th with a potluck buffet and an afternoon of relaxation therapies.

Suggested Donations for the Potluck:
     Kindergarten: can juices, sodas, bottled water
     1st & 6th: main dishes
     2nd: salad/vegetables
     3rd: appetizers/miscellaneous
     4th: desserts
     5th: side dishes/starches

Adult volunteers are still needed for the following shifts:
     7:15 -8:15am to receive donated food items (2 locations)
     10:15am-12:20pm to help set up and serve lunch for the staff
     12:30-2:00pm to help clean up after lunch
     1:30-3:30pm to help with relaxation therapies

MES PIZZA NIGHT FUNDRAISING EVENT: Help Support our MES Strings Program by ordering Pizza Hut pizza on May 5th. 

Call 643-1111 or visit your nearest Hawaii Pizza Hut Restaurant. Before ordering, please say “This is a Pizza Night Order.” Fill out the claim check on the Pizza Night form (click here for a copy of the form).  Detach the claim check and give to the delivery driver or Pizza Hut cashier at the time of payment.  25% of all Pizza Night sales will be donated to the MES Strings Program.

MES BOOK FAIR: The MES Book Fair begins on May 5th.

Adult Volunteers are still needed! If you can volunteer to help during the Book Fair, please complete the volunteer form (click here) and return to your child’s teacher OR contact the Librarian, Mrs. Minori Oumi at minori_oumi@notes.k12.hi.us or 831-7878. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! to the MES families for the delicious bountiful lunch & dessert buffet. Thank you, Kirsten, Lisa, et al, for organizing the luncheon and volunteers. Thank you, Lori (& Miyoko), for arranging the many healing touch, massage, yoga, and manicure services. Everything was delicious / wonderful / nurturing and made us feel so special!

Hi, Sorry this is off topic. I was wondering if the PTO could do feature on what to expect for Kindergartner’s. I’m the parent of a child who will be entering MES this fall. I have no idea what to expect, what the schedule will be like, and all that other stuff. I’m sure there are lots of parents of children who will be embarking on this journey and have lots of questions. Just a thought.

But I know that when he does start school this fall, I know where I’ll be looking for all my forms that he doesn’t bring home to me. :) Mahalo!
