PTA BOARD MEETING
October 10, 2007
CALL TO ORDER: Vice President C. Fukunaga called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM in the MES library.
VOTING MEMBERS PRESENT: Cindy Fukunaga, Michelle Gandee, Wendell Oumaye, Ernest Ramiscal, Wanda Kohashi, Reiko Kobayashi
NON-VOTING MEMBERS PRESENT: Carol Mann-Molay, Wendy Hadano, Susie Okumura, Stephen Figart, Lyanne Figart, Lynn Muneno, Nicole Arceo, Lisa Nakagawa, Terri Kimura, Tamara Ochoas, Kirsten Kajiwara, Scott Kajiwara, Lisa Lee
MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: Minutes were distributed for the September 12, 2007 Board Meeting. The minutes were corrected and approved as submitted.
TREASURER’S REPORT: E. Ramiscal submitted the MES Balance Sheet, MES PTA Profit and Loss Report, MES PTA General Ledger and Budget Report as of 9/30/07. The reports were accepted as submitted and filed for audit.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Portfolio Stuffing: C. Fukunaga introduced Terri Kimura as next year’s chair.
Hospitality: W. Kohashi reported a new chair is needed for next year.
EBooks: R. Tom reported 1,282 books sold as of 10/1, 17 books available for sale, 8 books to be returned to E books, total sales proceeds $38,775, total donations $195. Winner of Pizza party is Mrs. Imai’s class (K-2) and Winner of Teacher’s Incentive prize is Ms. Rosen.
Reflections: M. Bailon-Lebednick and M. Gandee submitted an estimated budget of $700 since the number of entries will not be known until December.
Arts and Culture: Mural workable with HAC (Contact: V. Hazen) for 3rd Semester with 12 sessions. Hopefully, each grade level class (4th Grade?) meeting with artist 3 times. Cost to the PTA is $900 and HAC to cover the rest.
Health and Fitness: PTA working with SCC for Oct. 18 Family Workshop on Nutrition.
RAP: W. Hadano reported RAP postings will be Wednesday, Oct. 17.
Fun Fair: Fun Fair is set for Nov. 16th. Weekly meetings will be held up until Nov. 5th. E.Ramiscal asked chairs to deposit their own checks.
Campus Beautification: Ideas were suggested to include the 6th grade service/environmental club to help Campus Beautification committee.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
PTA Website: S. Figart’s presented the MES PTA Website in which PTA Board and Chairs will receive email addresses and share online documents. Public website under construction.
ADMINISTRATION REPORT:
Mrs. Mann-Molay announced changes in personnel: J. Rosen is the Core Reading Teacher and new Preschool teacher hired. She also asked for help during lunchtime (11:00am) to supervise the line.
PCNC – Parent workshops scheduled on Oct 11 @ 6:30pm: How Is Your Child Measuring Up?
