MOANALUA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTA INC.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

March 12, 2008

CALL TO ORDER: President Lori Shimoda called the meeting to order at 6:35 PM in the MES Cafeteria.

VOTING MEMBERS PRESENT: A quorum of 30 PTA members was present.

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: The minutes of the August 29, 2007 General Membership meeting was distributed and approved as submitted.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Ernest Ramiscal submitted the MES PTA Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Report, General Ledger as of 2/29/2008. He also submitted the Budget Proposal for School Year 2007 – 2008 with proposed budget amendments as of 3/12/08. The budget amendments were approved and the reports were accepted as submitted.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: President Lori Shimoda highlighted PTA sponsored events such as Jr. Engineering Event headed by D. Hayashi and the Spring Family Picnic which were successful and the PTA plans to bring back next year. She also thanked Wendy Hadano who helped with the new school mural and the Administration for providing a sitting area by the Kindergarten building during pick up hours.

ADMINISTRATION”S REPORT: Ms. Arai corrected the dates for Spring Break (Mar 17-28) and School Fax # (831-7879) on the March Principal’s Update Newsletter and discussed Kindergarten Registration, May Day Schedule, and the GE Lottery. Ms. Arai presented the newly installed mural by the 5th grade classes.

NEW BUSINESS:

Moanalua Lions “Sight is Beautiful” Poster contest awards were given out by Steven Onoue. MES service group collected 135 glasses which were donated to the Lions Club.

PTA Reflections Awards: 52 entries made it to district level judging.

SCC Presentation for visual presenters was made to PTA members. Members then asked questions regarding cost, quantities and liability for future maintenance. Total approximate costs were $1500 which included the presenter and projector. SCC would like to purchase 30 presenters to allow one in each class room and Ms. Arai stated the PTA will not responsible for future maintenance. President Lori Shimoda requested members to sign up to help with funding.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The next PTA Board Meeting will be on April 9th in the Library.

ADJOURNMENT: President Lori Shimoda adjourned the meeting at 7:40 PM. The meeting was followed by PTA Reflections Acknowledgement Night.
